Ongoing construction of a fast-food drive-in restaurant, a large firearms store and a plumbing warehouse top the November report of new construction by Roswell City Planner Michael Vickers.
The report says:
• Construction of the new prototype Sonic Drive-In at 808 N. Main St. is moving along at a rapid pace. The restaurant will include parking stalls as well as a full-service drive-in with easy access to Main Street.
• The 2,400-square-foot Blount’s Firearms store is currently under construction at 1200 N. Virginia Ave. The foundation has been poured and the steel building has been erected. Interior work remains, along with landscaping.
• Rhoads Plumbing and Heating is constructing a 12,000-square-foot warehouse at 805 N. Virginia Ave. The shell of the building has been constructed. The building will serve as storage for supplies and equipment.
• The kindergarten through 8th-grade building for All Saints Catholic School is under construction at 2808 N. Kentucky Ave. The project is scheduled to be completed and open for the 2010 spring semester.
• The 68-suite Comfort Suites hotel, on Main Street across from the Hampton Inn, is on pace and scheduled to be completed mid February 2010. The hotel features upgraded finishes, high-end furnishings and LCD screen TVs in each room.
• Marroitt Towneplace Suites on 19th Street between Walgreen’s Drug Store and La Quinta Inn is permitted and is ready to break ground. Construction of the 71-room, extended-stay hotel is scheduled to commence before year-end, with a build-out time of roughly a year.
• The new Pioneer Bank headquarters, north of the Wells Fargo branch at Mescalero Road and Main Street, is nearing its grand opening. The 40,000-square-foot building has five drive-through lanes, a secure drive-up ATM and an interior water feature. Completion is expected in December.
• The new Roswell Community Federal Credit Union building, on the west side of Main Street just south of Sherrill Lane, is currently under construction, with core and shell primarily complete and a rough project completion date of this winter.
• Two residential permits were pulled in November, bringing the total permits pulled in 2009, residential and commercial, to 60.
