ROSWELL — Roswell Regional Family Care, 2335 N. Main St., is doing well in its first week open, clinic personnel said.

David and Annette Aguilar are certified nurse practitioners who staff the clinic, which is owned by Roswell Regional Hospital. David Aguilar said Friday that things were gong “fantastic.”

“Things are actually going great,” he said. “The numbers seem to be going up every day. Word is getting around. ‘It’s a good thing for Roswell,’ that’s what we’re hearing from patients. ‘Roswell needed this.’
They’re glad to see us come in … We didn’t expect to see so many (patients) so quickly, but they’re welcome.”

Office manager Judy Marling said the clinic saw 17 patients Monday, 14 Tuesday, 18 Wednesday and 24 Thursday.

“Everybody is saying, ‘This town has needed this for a long time,’” she said.

Aguilar said the walk-in clinic is also getting referrals from some local physicians, for instance specialists whose patients need a primary-care physician.

“There’s been a good percentage (of patients visiting the clinic) who do not have a primary care (physician) and are looking for that,” he added.

Marling and Aguilar also said some women patients who prefer to be examined by a woman appreciate being able to see Annette Aguilar.

The charge for a visit to the clinic also is affordable and the clinic takes most major insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid.

Care also is provided relatively quickly. Patients don’t have to have an appointment; they can walk in. Usually, from the time a patient comes in the door and fills out the paperwork to the time he or she sees a provider is no more than 20-30 minutes, Aguilar said.

He said people also are realizing the clinic is open later than a typical doctor’s office. One patient came in at 8:50 p.m. Thursday, he added.

Rod Schumacher, chief executive officer of Roswell Regional Hospital, said Roswell Regional Family Care also offers an affordable alternative for businesses dealing with an ill or injured employee.

Aguilar said the clinic can provide preventive care and wellness care for businesses, including drug screening and cholesterol, blood-pressure and diabetes checks.
