Nancy Corn and her family spent a lot of time at Roswell Regional Hospital this spring when her mother was a patient from mid-April to mid-May.
“I would come outside to make phone calls and I’d always think, ‘I wish there was a bench I could sit down on when I’m making these phone calls to family,’” Corn said.
So after her mother, Evelyn S. Reeves, passed away, Corn and her family decided they would donate a bench in her honor for the care the doctors and staff of the hospital provided her.
The bench, a wrought-iron frame with wooden slats in the seat and back, was installed and dedicated Aug. 14. A plaque on it reads: “With sincere appreciation/To the staff and doctors at RRH/For the loving care given to our Mother and MeMa/EVELYN S. REEVES/4-20-1918 — 5-29-09.” The family met with Rod Schumacher, hospital chief executive officer, Aug. 17 to dedicate the bench.
